This Privacy Policy explains how EdgeScan (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses and protects information when you use our mobile application EdgeScan (the “App”).

By installing or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Information we collect

We do not require you to create an account or provide personal details such as your name, email, or phone number to use the App. However, the App and the third‑party services integrated into it may collect certain information.

1.1 Information you create in the app

  • Scanned documents, images and PDFs

    • When you scan documents or import photos, the resulting images and PDFs are stored locally on your device by default.
    • These files are not automatically uploaded to our servers. They are only shared when you choose to send them (for example, via email, messaging apps, or cloud storage chosen by you).
  • Signatures, notes and tags

    • Signatures, document notes, tags and organizational data (folders, favorites, etc.) are stored locally on your device.

1.2 Automatically collected information (via SDKs)

The App integrates third‑party SDKs which may collect information automatically when you use the App. This may include:

  • Device and log information

    • Device model, operating system version, language, app version, and other technical details.
    • Crash logs and performance data (e.g. error reports, ANRs, diagnostics) to help us identify and fix issues.
  • App usage information

    • Screens and features you interact with.
    • Frequency and duration of your use.
    • Events such as subscription purchases or ad interactions (without directly identifying you personally).
  • Approximate location

    • Ad and analytics SDKs may infer approximate location (e.g. from IP address) to provide region‑appropriate content and comply with local regulations.
  • Advertising identifiers and similar IDs

    • Mobile advertising ID (e.g. Google Advertising ID).
    • App instance IDs or similar identifiers for analytics and ad attribution.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive categories such as political opinions, religion, or health information.


2. How we use information

We and our service providers use the collected information for purposes such as:

  • Providing core app functionality

    • Enabling document scanning, OCR, PDF generation, signatures, watermarks and other features.
    • Ensuring the App works correctly on different devices and OS versions.
  • Analytics and improvements

    • Understanding how the App is used to improve usability and performance.
    • Diagnosing crashes and technical issues.
    • Measuring the effectiveness of features and changes.
  • Advertising and monetization

    • Showing ads to support the free version of the App.
    • Limiting or removing ads when you purchase a subscription.
    • Using analytics to measure ad performance.
  • Subscriptions and payments

    • Handling in‑app purchases and subscriptions through Google Play Billing.
    • Verifying purchases and enabling premium features (such as the ad‑free experience).

3. Third‑party services

The App uses third‑party SDKs and services which may collect and process data in accordance with their own privacy policies. These include, but may not be limited to:

  • Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads (including mediation)
  • Facebook Audience Network
  • AppLovin Mediation
  • Firebase Analytics
  • Firebase Crashlytics
  • Firebase Remote Config
  • Google Play Billing

These services may collect device identifiers, app usage data, approximate location, and other technical information to:

  • Serve and measure ads
  • Provide analytics and crash reporting
  • Manage purchases and subscriptions

4. Data storage and security

  • Local storage
    • Scanned documents, PDFs, signatures, and notes are stored locally on your device unless you actively share or back them up to a third‑party service (e.g. email, cloud drive).
  • Third‑party servers
    • Analytics, crash logs and ad‑related data may be stored on the servers of our service providers (for example, Google or Facebook).
  • Security
    • We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data we process via third‑party services. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

5. Data retention

  • Local content
    • Your documents and scans remain on your device until you delete them or uninstall the App.
  • Analytics and logs
    • Retention of crash logs, analytics and ad data is governed by the policies of each third‑party provider and may vary.

6. Your choices

  • Ads and personalization
    • You can limit or reset your device’s advertising ID and adjust ad personalization via your device settings (for example: Settings → Google → Ads or equivalent settings on your device).
  • Permissions
    • You can revoke certain permissions (camera, media access, etc.) via your device settings. Note that this may limit some functionality of the App.
  • Removing your content
    • You may delete scanned documents, PDFs, images, signatures or notes directly within the App or by clearing the App’s data/uninstalling the App.

7. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country).
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.


8. International data transfers

Our third‑party service providers may process data on servers located in various countries. By using the App, you understand that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, which may have different data protection laws.


9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes means you accept the updated policy.
